Authors - The Braces Cookbooks

Pamela Waterman is an author, editor and engineer whose three children were all in some stage of braces for more than six years running. She loves hands-on projects in 3D art, cooking, building, and science, and recently experienced her own adults-in-braces phase.

Ms. Waterman is the author of The Absolute Best Play Days: From Airplanes to Zoos (and Everything In Between) (Sourcebooks 1999) and the co-author of both Braces Cookbooks as well as of JumpStart 5th Grade Activities (Knowledge Adventure Software/EPI 1999). Her articles on parenting, craft projects, small business, and home renovation have appeared in such publications as Family Fun, Cricket, Highlights for Children, and Better Homes and Gardens Kids' Rooms.

Chef Amee Hoge has a passion for equipping and inspiring young people and adults by teaching them how to play with food creatively in the kitchen. She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and has worked in a residential care facility in Missouri with at-risk youth, where her passion to reach these "tough" kids through cooking began. A graduate of the French Culinary Institute of New York City, she is currently living in Arizona and teaching classes to all ages. She is a regular guest chef on the Arizona Midday Show, a contributing writer for Raising Arizona Kids Magazine and a member of Women Chefs and Restaurateurs (WCR). Brenda Waterman is the teenage creator of The Braces Cookbook concept. Comfortably at home in the kitchen as well as at the drawing-board, she has come up with many of the approaches for the innovative "Substitution Specials" recipes and is always thinking of better ways to do things. She finished her third and final phase of orthodontic treatment; her fabulous smile is a testimony to the fine orthodontic treatment she experienced, and to her own good dental care. Ms. Waterman enjoys gourmet cooking and is always expanding her recipe collection.
